Every Morning is a New Beginning

Hello! For the month of January, the Imagine team has been working with the theme "New Beginnings." For me, a new beginning happens each and every day, and I like to start the day off with breakfast. I'm going to sound like a public service announcement, but breakfast is the most important meal of the day...so why not start it off with a smile? I was inspired by Law Fawn's Love 'N Breakfast stamps, and I thought that Radiant Neon Amplify! would make some fun egg accents on a card.

Supplies:
Imagine:
VersaFine: Onyx Black
Memento Markers: Dandelion, Rhubarb Stalk, Desert Sand, Summer Sky, New Sprout, Pear Tart, Angel Pink, Rose Bud, Lulu Lavender, Sweet Plum, Tangelo, Love Bug
Radiant Neon Amplify!: Electric Yellow, White
Encore Ultimate Metallic: Blue

Other:
Lawn Fawn: Love 'N Breakfast stamp set
Canson Mixed Media Paper
Cardstock: Wedgewood Blue, Powder Blue, White
Adhesive
Heat Tool

Directions:

1. Cut a 3" x 3" square of Canson Mixed Media Paper. Stamp the tray and eggs & bacon on to the square using VersaFine in Onyx Black.

You'll see in the photo above that my sentiment is too long for my square. So I decided to stamp it out in sections. Of course, I don't want to cut my sentiment, so I masked parts of it off with washi tape. You can use regular tape too, but the washi shows up better in photographs.

2. I worked from the end of the sentence backwards. It was just easier to stamp out the words where they needed to be that way. Above, you'll see that I left the "with a smile" exposed, and covered the rest with the washi tape. Ink up the words, remove the washi tape, and stamp below the tray, in between the legs.

3. Next, I covered everything but "morning" and stamped that right above the tray. Remember to remove the washi tape before you stamp on to your project. Below shows the finished sentiment. I also added the same small heart that I put on the vase to the left side of the sentiment.

4. Color in the image using the suggested Memento Markers above. You can alter the colors as you wish, but I highly recommend Rhubarb Stalk and Desert Sand for the bacon.

5. Once you've finished coloring, create a mat for the stamped image with wedgewood blue colored cardstock, cut to 3 1/4" x 3 1/4."

I mentioned before that I wanted to make eggs with Radiant Neon Amplify! I tried a few different ways, using various products. I liked the pure Amplify! versions the best, so I decided to go with that. The egg in the bottom row on the left is they one I remade. I will say, however, that if I had a yellow version of irRESISTable Pico Embellisher, I think that would have made the perfect yolk with Amplify in white around it.

6. To make the eggs, squirt a large dot of Yellow Radiant Neon Amplify! below the colored in images. Take the white Amplify! and squirt out an uneven oval. Don't make a circle, or it will look like a flower in the end. I made 2 at a time, then heated them together with my heat tool.

7. This is what they looked like after they have been heated. Repeat this process across the bottom of the square. Word of caution: Be sure to thoroughly heat and dry the Amplify! or you could wind up with runny yolks. And that's just no fun on your project.

8. Create another mat using a powder blue cardstock, cut to 5 1/4" x 3 3/4." Using Onyx Black VersaFine and more washi tape, stamp one of the toast pieces repeatedly on to the powder blue mat.

The washi tape will stay sticky but won't muck up your stamp as you repeat the process all over the background.
9. After the toast has been stamped, edge the powder blue cardstock with Encore Ultimate Metallic ink in Blue.

10. Glue all of your layers together.

Here are a few of the products I used for this project. I am pretty happy with my little puffy eggs. I think they are just the right amount of dimension and silliness for the card.

I hope you learned a couple of tricks. Have an inspiring day!

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga

Remembering Aletha

Greetings, Friends. This post today is part of a very special blog hop. We are celebrating the life of an amazingly talented artist and friend. The crafting community lost Aletha Jane Williams on May 5, 2019. Those of us that worked with her on Design Teams or on Challenge Blogs all agree that she was one of the sweetest and most talented women we knew. We are not here to mourn her loss though. This hop is happening in conjunction with a very special celebration of her life and her art that her husband Bob is holding in her home city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Please join us in honoring our incredibly creative friend Aletha . My card features the "Remembering Aletha" Sprite, which Mitzi (owner and artist of Aurora Wings ) created specifically for this hop. She is generously giving the digi away to all, over on her blog. This sweet Sprite looks so much like Aletha, and I know she would have been honored. If you download this digi for yourself, please be sure to give a huge "
