June Bombshell Stamps Sketch

Hello! So nice of you to come for a visit! Today I am sharing June’s Bombshell Stamps Sketch with you. Kathi, once again created a wonderful sketch for us to work with, and hopefully you will play along with the Bombshell gals for your chance to win a prize at the end of the month! Here’s the sketch:

I chose to work with the Hula Girl set. I created a card for my husband’s former boss who recently retired.

Don’t you wish you were there? I sure do! I colored everything up with my watercolor markers, being sure to give my hula girl a pretty sun kissed glow.

I am so loving this set. The volcano, the beautiful hibiscus…even the images not used on this card. I highly recommend this fun set!
Speaking of hibiscus…that’s my favorite part of the card. I adore hibiscus flowers. But there’s one in particular. Now bear with me…I’ll try to make it brief. I worked at a nursery for many years (that’s where I met my husband!). I love flowers and gardening, so when we got new plants in I was always very excited. Hibiscus come in a couple of varieties, and each of them have specific colors. The type that I prefer is most commonly seen in red, orange and sometimes yellow. At least here in New York! But once in a while on the truck…I would find a double colored one that has a bright pink center and an orange edge. STUNNING! I needed one. Had to have it. Finally was able to get one…and boy did I take care of it.
In New York, hibiscus are annuals, unless you bring them indoors. Well, I did. I have had this amazing plant for 12 whole years!!! That’s a looooong time for a hibiscus in NY! It has had bugs, and diseases…but I always made my plant better (often with Gene’s help!). But. Last year it got cold really fast here….and I think that the weather did my poor beloved plant in. Gene thinks the roots are still good…but I haven’t seen any sprouts on it…so I am thinking it has flowered for it’s last time… :( But thankfully, I have taken many pictures of it. So, before I make a long story even longer…here is my inspiration for the flowers on my card.

Didn’t I tell you it was stunning???

I hope I can find another one. I am on a mission to do just that. Thanks for stopping by, and learning about another piece of my little world! Have an inspiring day!!!

Boy do I EVER wish I were there! Fabulous card and your hibiscus is (was? boohoo!) AMAZING. One of the most beautiful I've ever seen! I bought a King of Bohemia hibiscus when my Daddy died (he was ethnically Bohemian (Czech)) but I could only make it last for two years (and that's in CA!) You guys have some green thumb. Hope your hubby is right and it comes back for you. xxD

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga

Remembering Aletha

Greetings, Friends. This post today is part of a very special blog hop. We are celebrating the life of an amazingly talented artist and friend. The crafting community lost Aletha Jane Williams on May 5, 2019. Those of us that worked with her on Design Teams or on Challenge Blogs all agree that she was one of the sweetest and most talented women we knew. We are not here to mourn her loss though. This hop is happening in conjunction with a very special celebration of her life and her art that her husband Bob is holding in her home city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Please join us in honoring our incredibly creative friend Aletha . My card features the "Remembering Aletha" Sprite, which Mitzi (owner and artist of Aurora Wings ) created specifically for this hop. She is generously giving the digi away to all, over on her blog. This sweet Sprite looks so much like Aletha, and I know she would have been honored. If you download this digi for yourself, please be sure to give a huge "
