Celtic Knot Box

Top o' the mornin' to ya! Ok. I'm not Irish, and I'm not going to even try to fake it. But, I did make something inspired by Ireland. I made a box using a beautiful Celtic knot from Dreamweaver Stencils. It's called Celtic Hexagon.

The box took several hours to make, mostly due to drying time. First, I painted the box Rainforest Green. I embossed the Celtic knot with Black Embossing Paste, and once that dried, I went over the image again with with Crackle Embossing Paste. While it was still wet, I sprinkled on 3 colors of Metallic F/X powders. I used Ivy Garden, Amber Glow and Gold Dust. I let that dry, and brushed off the excess.

I used a metallic copper rub on paint to bring out a bit of the wood grain, and painted a white border on the top of the box. I added a bit of metallic rub in green and copper to that white band, so that it would mimic the Celtic Knot.

The box was fun to make! I love decorating boxes. My kids went on a scavenger hunt this morning, because the Leprechauns left them lots of golden coins and stickers throughout the house. They put their findings in this box. It's fun to use stencils for so much more than just paper crafts! This month, the Dreamweaver Challenge is "March Madness." That could mean a lot of things, but 1 is that you try something you haven't done before. Well, I hadn't used my Crackle Embossing Paste...so that's new to me! So, I will be adding this box to their challenge. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
